Milwaukee's best Mexican, 2013

For the seventh straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2013."

Like Rocky beating the 10 count before Apollo Creed, Bel Air Cantina barely escaped with the championship belt in one of the most hotly contested categories of 2013.

Bel Air Cantina, located at 1935 N Water St., bested Botanas by mere votes for Best Mexican Restaurant in Milwaukee.

Botanas had held the crown for five consecutive years and was runner-up.

Bel Air Cantina has an affordable and assorted menu of all the Mexican fare you would expect (tacos, burritos, fajitas, quesadillas, etc.) but they put their own twist on it with Jamaican Jerk Chicken, hot dog taquitos, beef slow cooked with sodas, a BLT taco and other unique flavors.

They also offer vegetarian options and the ability to mix-and-match your selections.

OnMilwaukee.com editors' choice: Cempazuchi

Runners-up:
2. Botanas
3. Cempazuchi
4. Conejitos
5. La Fuente

I'm putting in an honorable mention for Cafe Corazon. Their food is consistently delicious.
