October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, special features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food. Bon appetit!
When you are settling in to watch football on a chilly afternoon, a pulled pork sandwich is the perfect main course.
There are plenty of ways to make them. This recipe is simple, but the taste is fantastic.
Ingredients:
• One 3-pound pork shoulder butt
• Barbecue or Old Bay seasoning
• 1 quart apple cider vinegar
• 2 tbl. red chili flakes
• Sliced red onions
• Sliced dill pickles
• Barbecue sauce
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
Rub seasoning on the pork butt
Place pork in a roasting pan and add vinegar and chili flakes
Cover with foil and place in oven for 3 ½ to 4 hours
Remove from pan
Shred pork, add barbecue sauce and toss
Serve on a Kaiser roll with onion slices, pickles and (my personal favorite) coleslaw
Enjoy.

Put it in the slow cooker and it'll be ready when you get home from work.

Am I the only one that likes a spoonful of "slaw" on my pulled pork sandwich? I always get strange looks when I do it.
