Thanks to many dedicated people and businesses, Downtown is the heart of Milwaukee and the entire state of Wisconsin. This week, OnMilwaukee presents Milwaukee Downtown Week, sponsored, aptly, by Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21. For seven days, we will share stories, videos and photography profiling some of the neighborhood’s best offerings and celebrating those who make it so great.

Milwaukee Downtown Employee Appreciation Week, by the way, runs July 31 - Aug. 4, 2017.

Milwaukee Waterfront Deli
761 N. Water St.

Type of food: American deli
Prices: Entrees $3.50-8.95
Vegetarian friendly? Yes
Hours: Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Located in an 1868 vintage building in Downtown Milwaukee, this bustling deli will get you a quick, quality lunch. Gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads, breakfasts are all on the menu – and while the options are plentiful they can get expensive if you eat out daily for lunch. My go-to lunch bargain is in the fresh case with the colorful and delicious salads.

The deli offers up a daily mini-quiche at a mere $3.50. The flavors and options vary daily with choices such as roasted veggie or sausage and cheese. I take the quiche back and re-heat it in our office pizza oven but Waterfront will also heat your quiche in-house.

Add on a mini fruit salad and you are still coming in at under $7! Bon appetit!

Carolynn Buser Chief Content Officer

Carolynn Buser is one of Milwaukee's loudest and most adamant cheerleaders (don't dare try to disagree). She's the primary voice behind much of OnMilwaukee's social media and content direction, and apologizes in advance if she can be too sarcastic at times.

What else? She's a wine lover, closet trashy novel reader, beauty supplies addict and devourer of cheese (shocker for a Wisconsin born and bred girl, right?). She's also a bit of a foodie, which is a word most of you hate, we know. She works as hard as she plays - and that includes in the gym! So, you've probably seen her at one of the area's newest restaurant openings (and yes, she will share her opinions good or bad) or enjoying a cold one at a local pub.

All in all, Carolynn's a believer in positive thinking and will do her best to smack down your negative ones while writing about her city, her loves, quests and more.
