On second thought...
I want to clear up something I wrote in a recent blog. I asked OnMilwaukee.com to take it down, but they told me that we don't rewrite history, that once it's out there, it's out there. So, instead, I offer this.
Recently, I wrote that at a dinner at Eddie Martini's, I thought the two steaks we ordered were not up to the standards set by this wonderful restaurant. I didn't mention the rest of my dinner, which was, as usual, excellent.
I should have mentioned it to our server or management and given them a chance to rectify the situation, which I'm certain they would have done. I regret not doing so.
I don't think it's particularly fair of me to have written a blog calling out a restaurant I love and which has a deserved great reputation without hearing their side of the story. It seems a little like bullying to me – and I don't like bullies.
I apologize to Eddie Martini's and to anyone who took offense at the blog.
I'm not sure why this is such a big deal? Dave is not a food critic. He wrote a blog about a restaurant and had what he thought was an sub par meal. So what? It was just his opinion whether educated or not is irrelevant. Dave I wouldn't apologize for anything. A blog is not an article, you aren't a food critic and no offense I doubt anyone is basing their dining choices on what you write. You have no experience in the food world beyond the average consumer. There was no need to recant. I have never dined at Eddie Martini's so I can't comment one way or another. Personally, there are many ways to get the public's overall opinion of a restaurant wheter it be top lists, online reviews and mutiple publications.
I think a third thought may be in order. Shtup us with chutzpah you marvelous meshuggener.
This article and the one that preceeded this article are 2 reasons why you should retire.
@OMC - Love the "we don't rewrite history" response. Very Clint Eastwood/Godfather esque. @Dave Begel - Way to man up and take ownership of that suspect blog. It was the right thing to do. @mikeb - thanks for referencing that article about Bombers. Thankfully it's still posted. Good read. http://www.avclub.com/milwaukee/articles/a-few-words-about-aj-bombers-and-the-difference-be,48448/
Thank you for clearing things up. Many places succeed because of "word of mouth". But many can go under for the same reason. It would be nice if we could see just as many positive reviews as we do complaints.
