Fall Harvest Festival at Blind Horse
Eastern Wisconsin’s premiere winery The Blind Horse Restaurant & Winery, 6018 Superior Ave. in Kohler, will host its second annual Fall Harvest Festival next weekend.

The festival, which takes place Sept. 20-21 will feature

  • a grape stomping contest
  • a visit from the blind rescue horses of Amazing Grace Equine Sanctuary,
  • a mozzarella making class ($50 per person or two for $90)
  • kids pizza class with Executive Chef Marco Rossi ($25 including wine for mom and dad)
  • live music from Learning to Fly (a Tom Petty Tribute Band) and Bradley Fish
  • behind-the-scenes winery tours ($5) with tastings of exclusive reserve wines

Wine lovers can also take advantage of the Blind Horse End-of-Summer White Wine Stock-up sale now through Oct. 1. Customers receive 10-20 percent off, based on the number bottles purchased. Wine Club Members receive a 30 percent discount.

The festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 20 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 21. For more information, as well as a full schedule of events and pricing, visit the Blind Horse web site.

Tuscan Wine Dinner
Salotto Zarletti, 1515 W. Mequon Rd. will present a five course wine dinner on Thursday, Sept. 18 featuring Elia Pellegrini of AIA VECCHIA-Bolgheri.

Cocktail hour will begin with a cash bar at 6:30 p.m. followed by a five course dinner at 7 p.m., presented by Chef Andrew Miller and owner, Brian Zarletti.

Courses will include:

  • Antipasto: Tuscan Salumi Spread with Pecorino and Honey paired with Adami Prosecco "Sur Lie" NV
  • Insalata: Heirloom Tomato Panzanella with Aia Vecchia Vermentino Maremma I.G.T., 2013
  • Primi: Pappardelle, Wild Boar Ragu, Pecorino paired with Aia Vecchia Lagone Toscano I.G.T., 2011
  • Secondi: Bistecca Fiorentina (Prime T-Bone) with potatoes and olive oil, featuring Aia Vecchia SorUgo Bolgheri Rosso Superiore D.O.C., 2010
  • Dolci: Castagnaccio (Tuscan Chestnut Tart) with Badia Coltibuono Vin Santo, 2007

Best of Milwaukee Beer Dinner
The latest installment of the Best of Milwaukee Beer Dinners will be held at Odd Duck, 2352 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., on Tuesday, Sept. 30 beginning with a reception at 6 p.m.

The dinner features five courses created by Chefs Matt Kerley of Blue Jacket, Dan Jacobs & Ross Bachhuber of Odd Duck, Dan Van Rite of Hinterland Erie Street Gastropub, Paul Zerkel & Lisa Kirkpatrick of Goodkind & Justin Aprahamian of Sanford Milwaukee

Accompanying beer pairings will feature beers from Central Waters Brewing CompanyLike Minds Brewing CompanyHinterland BreweryDogfish Head Beer, and Founders Brewing Company.
