The Thai-inspired trend of rolled ice cream has been spinning its way across the U.S. for a while now – and now it's finally whirling its way into Milwaukee.
As first reported by the Milwaukee Business Journal, Fro Zone will open the first rolled ice cream shop in the area at 1320 E. Brady St., the former Pepi's Place pizzeria space. The store – the brainchild of recent college grad Mike Kaid and his business partner/current Marquette University student Ahsan Sikander Gondal – will sell the popular street vendor dessert for $6.95 with unlimited toppings.
So what the heck is rolled ice cream? Pretty much exactly what it sounds like: thin strips of ice cream, rolled into spirals, tucked into a bowl and covered in a variety of sweet toppings. But why tell you what ice cream rolls are when this video from Super Deluxe can do a much better job showing you in all their mesmerizing, intoxicating beauty.
So not only do you get a frozen treat, you might get bonus ASMR brain tingles too!
Fro Zone – which I assume will be themed around Samuel L. Jackson's character from Pixar's "The Incredibles" – is expected to open June 1.
