Glass Nickel Pizza Co. to open on North Avenue

The Glass Nickel Pizza Co. is opening a new location at 1504 E. North Ave., company co-founder Tim Nicholson confirmed to OnMilwaukee.com yesterday.

The space's previous tenants include restaurants La Piazza, Node and Clutch.

The Glass Nickel is expected to open sometime in June. It will be owned and operated by a longtime Glass Nickel Pizza Co. employee, said Nicholson.

The pizza company was founded in 1997 in Madison. There are eight other locations in Wisconsin, including one in Brookfield.

Decent pizza, but pretty expensive. Could be tough goings there trying to get college kids to drop $25 on a pie.

Pietro's Pizza

The story of Pietro`s starts with Filippo Tarantino who worked as a baker in Sicily and moved to the United States in 1959. He found his way to Milwaukee and worked for Grebe`s Bakery until 1973 when he accumulated enough savings to open Pietro`s Pizza, named after one of his sons.
