In a bit of a public and media relations coup, Chef Michael Feker tells us today in an e-mail that -- in a change of heart (and a nice p.r. score) he won't, after all, be closing his Walker's Point eatery, Il Mito (605 W. Virginia St.).
OnMilwaukee.com first reported his announced closing on March 26 and soon after other local media followed us. In a matter of days, Il Mito was all over the Milwaukee-area print and broadcast media thanks to another scoop from the pages of OMC.
But now, it seems that a pending closing has given Feker new hope, passion and ideas for his Il Mito.
The following is the text of his most recent e-mail:
My dear friends
It is time to tell you what has been brewing for you.
After seeing your support and aaproval of my enoteca and trattoria Concept in Wauwatosa, I will be reopening my walkers point location(the original Il Mito) after the complition of the remodeling that will compliment our new concept, energy, menu and prices.
This is going to allow an easier access to great food, service and value to my east side and northshore friends as well . I am so excited to serve you again at my Original location .
Lots of love and gratitude to every one of you for your support and approval of my pasion for food and service.
I will inform you of the details and opening gala
Ciao-Ciao
Chef Michael Feker
For those that don't know, Il Mito Enoteca is located at 6913 W. North Ave., in Wauwatosa.
At this point, there is no further word on Il Mito's remodeling or concept plans. But, I strongly suspect those details will come in a future e-mail, on these pages of OnMilwaukee.com, in follow up stories that other media will again jump on and continued e-mail and media relations buzz from Chef Feker.
Stayed tuned, as there's never a dull moment in Milwaukee restaurant news and Milwaukee restaurant buzz -- even if it is just a bit of a p.r. stunt from the creative chef at Il Mito.
