Celebrate INdustri Cafe's inaugural birthday party

In honor of its inaugural year, INdustri Cafe wants you to save the date for its "1-1-1 Anniversary Party" Wednesday, Feb. 8.

The Walker's Point restaurant officially celebrates its one-year anniversary Saturday, Jan. 7, but decided to hold off on the party and mark the occasion one year, one month and one day after the milestone.

The 1-1-1 Anniversary Party will feature live music, free food and discounted drinks from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Stay tuned to the restaurant's website for upcoming details.

Good hummus hard to find

In support of last week`s Downtown Dining Week, I decided to visit the Turkish restaurant Tulip, 360 E. Erie St., in hopes of discovering my new favorite Mediterranean eatery. I am in a serious and long-term love affair with hummus, so I couldn`t resist a chance to eat a meal complementary to my favorite ethnic flavor.

June 1 Food Crawl

When I moved to Milwaukee in 1983 I lived in Walker`s Point and spent a lot of time on the corner of 5th and National. And I can assure you a Walker`s Point Food Crawl back then would involve Rudy`s, Acapulco, a ham and egger kitty corner from Tech on National and a couple bodegas, at best. But, as you know, that`s all changed and there`s more than enough gastronomic activity in the heart of old George Walker`s town to fuel a marathon of eating that could last months.
