All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, dining guides, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as voting for your "Best of Dining 2015."
It’s time to pull out your best cookie recipes for the Marcus Restaurant Group’s 7th Annual Holiday Cookie Contest, which takes place now through Sunday, Nov. 29.
Local bakers are encouraged to submit their best holiday cookie recipes for consideration at www.MarcusCookie.com. During the week of Nov. 30, 2015, Pfister Pastry Chef Jennifer Carlson will pick her five favorite recipes to compete at the Holiday Bake Sale. The five finalists will have the opportunity to share their cookies with Chef Carlson during the week of Dec. 7, 2015 for a tasting and to discuss the secrets to their recipes.
The winner will be selected and announced during a special Holiday Bake Sale event on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Monarch Lounge, located off the lobby of Hilton Milwaukee City Center.
Open to the public, attendees of the bake sale will pay a $10 donation at the door, which will benefit Hope House of Milwaukee, a local emergency and transitional living facility. At the event, attendees will vote for their favorite cookie and enjoy appetizers, specialty cocktails, a flavored milk station, a bartender drink demonstration, a sugar cookie frosting demonstration and more. Additionally, three Marcus Restaurant chefs will be competing in their own cookie contest, giving attendees the opportunity to vote for "Cookie Master" honors. Bake sale attendees will also be able to purchase 12-count packages of the top five public cookies, plus the three chef-created cookies.
The baker of the cookie with the most votes will win the Grand Prize, which includes a one-on-one cooking lesson with Chef Carlson; a one night stay for two at The Pfister Hotel, InterContinental Milwaukee or Hilton Milwaukee City Center; dinner for two at a Marcus Restaurant in Milwaukee; a $150 Pick ‘N Save gift card; and a KitchenAid mixer.
The four runners up will receive a $50 gift card for a Marcus Restaurant. The winning cookie will also be served during the 2016 holiday season in Marcus’ Milwaukee restaurants – Café Pfister, Mason Street Grill, Kil@wat and Milwaukee ChopHouse.
