The team creating the Milwaukee Café & Bar in the soon-to-be Downtown Milwaukee Marriott has unveiled its plan for the new tavern and dining room.

The Milwaukee Café & Bar will focus on the Midwest staples of meat, cheese and beer to craft its menu. It will join forces with Usinger's Famous Sausage, the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and others to bring together fresh, local ingredients and menu items.

Its designers will also incorporate historic 19th century-style elements like wood, piping and decorative brick. Modern amenities like Wi-Fi are also planned.

The bar and restaurant is part of the $54 million Downtown Marriott project being constructed around the existing Johnson Bank building at 333 E. Wisconsin Ave. Scheduled to open mid-2013, the hotel will also host close to 200 guest rooms and suites, meeting and banquet space and other services.
