O&H Bakery opens in Oak Creek

For the sixth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2012."

O&H Danish Bakery, based in Racine, recently opened a new location in Oak Creek, 9540 S. 27th St., inside the Willkomm's Oak Creek Mobile station.

The bakery is best known for its award-winning kringles, but also offers a variety of other pastries such as cakes and breads.

The business began in 1949 and is still family owned today. The 27th Street location is the company's fourth, with two others in Racine and one in Sturtevant.

The Dish in Oak Creek

Several restaurateurs may be cooking up a new dining concept in the Milwaukee suburbs - quickly prepared Italian dishes that don`t taste like fast food. At the newly opened The Dish in Oak Creek, a customer can place an order for a pasta entree at a drive-thru window and have it handed to him in less than four minutes. Pizzas, available in three sizes, are delivered to a car in 12 minutes.

We`re adding a dash of spice to our offerings this week, in the form of some delicious salsa from Mrs. Renfro. Other recommendations include some delicious desserts (kringle and root beer floats), a relaxing spa treatment, a pair of jazzy records from an underrated sax specialist, a funny movie about a serious topic, a rockin` band at Shank Hall, a couple of provocative Web sites and a great place for a walk or a jog.
