For the sixth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2012."

All month long, we've revealed our readers' picks for best restaurants in and around Milwaukee. We were right there with you on many of your winners, and where we disagreed, we let you know via our editors' picks.

But one thing we've never done is polled our own team. Not just our writers, but everyone. So, for the first time, we took this opportunity to look inward – to ask our salespeople, programmers, designers, writers and support staff where they love to eat.

And, unlike the 50 questions we presented to our readers, we asked only one question:

What is your favorite Milwaukee-area restaurant?

Not by cuisine or by location. Not the "best," even. Just "favorite." Plain and simple.

How did we compile the list? Our editorial staff offered up our favorite 15 restaurants to use as a guide, then we asked every member of our team to rank them (or any others they think are deserving) from 1-15.

The results were interesting, a little surprising and very delicious.

Bacchus, 925 E. Wells St., came out on top, while the comfort food of Comet, ranked fourth. Maxie's Southern Comfort, which won our readers' poll for best restaurant in the City of Milwaukee, came in 11th place.

Check out the list for yourself and see if you agree with our choices. Inside our own office, the list made for some heated debates, but we agree that taken as a whole, this is a solid group of excellent restaurants.
