What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published June 12, 2008 at 2:47 p.m.

About a week ago, I found myself chatting with our sales staff about tailgate parties. One of us -- I don't remember who -- suggested we throw an office tailgate party. We quickly checked the Brewers' schedule and saw that today was a day game against the Astros.

We set our plan into motion.

By "plan," I mean that we didn't do anything until this morning. At about 11 a.m., my programmer Zach and I walked over to Whole Foods, picked up real and veggie brats, chips, pickles and charcoal. One of my salespeople, Anders, grabbed a few cases of High Life and Beck's Premier Light on the way back from a meeting, while another, John, conveniently found a portable grill in his trunk.

At about 12:30, we parked our cars strategically in the corner of the lot, fired up the grill and turned on the Brewers pre-game. The charcoal was still getting hot as we listened to Prince Fielder, Mike Cameron and Corey Hart jerk homers out of the yard. Every member of our staff who was in the office joined in, while Zach skillfully worked the grill.

Admittedly, the weather looked ominous when we began this mid-week folly, but the skies remained rain-free during lunch. We ate all our food but didn't drink all our beer -- we still need to work this afternoon.

We just might make this an OnMilwaukee.com tradition.
