On Sunday, July 3 The Friends of Center Street Park will host the inaugural Q & Brew at Center Street Park, 6420 W. Clarke St. beginning at 4 p.m.

The event, which will feature a barbecue competition, live music and beer concessions, was the brain child of the East Tosa BBQ Appreciation Society, an informal group of neighborhood residents who meet monthly at community parks to share their latest barbecued masterpieces.

Fourteen cooks will compete in a barbecue competition during the event. Live music will be provided by The Belle Weather, a local modern folk and indie rock band, at 6 p.m. Beer will be provided by Big Head Brewing Company from 4 to 9 p.m.

Both adult and children’s tickets are available and include sampling from the barbecue competition and sides, provided by Tall Guy and a Grill.

Advance tickets are available at qandbrew.org. The public tasting will start at 5 p.m.
