For the ninth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, dining guides, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as voting for your "Best of Dining 2015."

With all the new places popping up in Walker's Point, we sometimes forget about old favorites. Case in point, Chez Jacques.

This mainstay serves tasty, traditional and very authentic French food. Enjoy brunch every day until 3 p.m. - and there's a nice selection of omelettes, quiches and crepes (sweet or savory) to pick from. Choose from classics for entrees such as steak and frites or the cassoulet.

Type of food: French

Prices: Brunch $3-14, lunch $4-14, entrees $8-26

Vegetarian friendly? Yes. Lunch offers up tasty salad choices and dinner brings a number of options such as stuffed rainbow trout and numerous pastas.

Hours: Tuesday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Parking: Plentiful free street parking available.

Vibe/dress: Casual, come as you are vibe.

Decor: Like many European dwellings, the looks from the outside can be a bit deceiving. And when you step into the doors you immediately feel the influence of France. Don't miss the delightful back patio on a warm sunny day.

Hits: Indulge in the ham & gruyere croissant sandwich – a beautiful buttery sandwich with ham, cheese and perfectly scrambled eggs. The cassoulet is just waiting for you on a cool winter's eve.

Misses: Unless you really have a hankering for potatoes opt for the freshly cut fruit side. The french toast has good flavor but the crepes are far superior.

Insider tip: Stop by for happy hour where appetizers are just $6 (yum, escargot) and wine is $1 off.

Carolynn Buser Chief Content Officer

Carolynn Buser is one of Milwaukee's loudest and most adamant cheerleaders (don't dare try to disagree). She's the primary voice behind much of OnMilwaukee's social media and content direction, and apologizes in advance if she can be too sarcastic at times.

What else? She's a wine lover, closet trashy novel reader, beauty supplies addict and devourer of cheese (shocker for a Wisconsin born and bred girl, right?). She's also a bit of a foodie, which is a word most of you hate, we know. She works as hard as she plays - and that includes in the gym! So, you've probably seen her at one of the area's newest restaurant openings (and yes, she will share her opinions good or bad) or enjoying a cold one at a local pub.

All in all, Carolynn's a believer in positive thinking and will do her best to smack down your negative ones while writing about her city, her loves, quests and more.
