Scrambled Ed's is born again. The near South Side greasy spoon known more for its name than its food is getting a polished overhaul and an upscale rebirth.

In the historic building at 101 W. Mitchell St. -- on the borders of both Bay View and Walker's Point -- once known as the Transfer Pharmacy will be a diner/music club/tavern called, appropriately, Transfer.

The city's Licenses Committee gave Transfer its blessing after owner John Rossetto told members that the emphasis would be a dining during the day and some music acts at night. Rossetto also told the committee the diner portion would be open for the after-bar crowd.

The inside has been gutted to expose woodwork and stained glass that had long been covered up for the ease of cleaning no doubt. Rossetto said they didn't expect to find such treasures inside and that is going to delay the opening a tad.
