October is the third annual
Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com. All month, we're stuffed with
restaurant reviews, delicious features, chef profiles, unique articles
on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2009."
Chicago's weighing in on the spirited topic of "best burger in Milwaukee." The Chicago Tribune's "Cheeseburger bureau chief," Kevin Pang, boldly lays down his choices in a piece today.
He starts with "several sweeping statements" about "this great city 90 minutes due north of Chicago." These include the observation that "people here won't stop talking about Brett Favre," that Milwaukee loves its "MGD Light," and that we boast "the most out-of-control, belt-busting, flip-off-your-cardiologist burgers."
Pang's top three?
Click here to see what he says about each place. You can also watch Pang's latest episode of his online "The Cheeseburger Show." The episode is titled "The Milwaukee Show."

Glad to see Mazo's get some recognition. I think it's often overlooked, but the burgers are great. Not to mention you can get a regular cheeseburger and two sides for 5.50. It's definitely enough to fill you up. Long live Mazo's!

I don't buy any of your Solly's butter banter. I eat there once a month and I always ask for half the butter and it tastes amazing!! I've been eating there for 20 years.....

my problem with solly's is that they use frozen beef and then cook it to a crisp. it hurts my heart to see beef goto waste like that. and why do they use frozen beef anyways? they do plenty of business. uncalled for

He put it perfectly. I don't know if anyone has ever put Solly's into words as well as the Trib just did. I understand if you don't like Sollys. I don't agree, but I understand. But that review made me crave a solly's burger like I used to when I was 7.
