Pinching pennies 'til payday? Or just looking for something new this lunch hour? Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, presents "The $5 Lunch Challenge."

This week we asked Brenda, a Milwaukee Downtown Public Service Ambassador, to find lunch for under $5. Is it possible? And how. Check out this week's challenge winner.

What's Fresh! Deli
146 E. Juneau Ave.
(414) 273-5677

What makes What's Fresh! Deli so special? One word: delivery. That's right. Not only can you get sandwiches with all the works (plus chips, thirst quenchers, sides or yummy ice cream) for under $5, they'll deliver it to your office for only two bucks.

Order from their menu of gourmet deli sandwich choices like Braunschweiger, chicken pecan basil salad, corned beef, Genoa salami, ham, pastrami, roast beef, smoked turkey or tuna salad for $4.25 a sandwich or $2.50 for a half.

Get egg salad for $3.10 or $2 for a half, and cheese or veggie for only $4 or $2.35 for a half. Sub combos like ham, turkey and salami; salami, beef and summer sausage or a turkey sub cost only $3.90 or $2.50 for a half.

Fresh sides like soup, bagels, potato salad, fruit, tomato feta or Italian pasta salad or homemade desserts complete your meal.

Call ahead for a menu and fax in your order. Orders are delivered on a first come, first served basis, so plan ahead. Or just eat at one of their indoor or outdoor tables.
