Back in the day, hungry North Shore diners would think nothing of taking the short trek to 76th Street and Good Hope Road for a good meal. But as dining options in the area thinned, only Yen Ching still packs 'em in, with outstanding Chinese cuisine than stands the test of time.

Menu: Chinese.

Price: Moderate.

When to go: Unless you pick an insanely busy night, like Christmas Eve, you should be able to get seated almost immediately.

Dress: Casual.

Don't miss: The best Mongolian Beef in Milwaukee ($10.75). Other favorites include Ming's Beef ($10.75) and Budda's (sic) Delight ($9.50). The sizzling rice soup ($4.50) for two is superb, too.

Parking: Ample-sized parking lot. Except for busy holidays, it's never a problem. Even then, you'll find a space.
