1. Cedar Creek Winery pours a second glass of Wine Down Wednesday
"It's Wednesday" seems as good a reason as any to crack open a tasty vino. Luckily, Cedar Creek Winery agrees, hosting its second Wine Down Wednesday event on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
2. Making no duh no-knead pizza dough
With tomatoes and all sorts of mid-season vegetables coming into the markets, my mind immediately goes to pizza. We make at least two pizzas a week in my house, and I've got a no-knead dough that couldn't be simpler.
3. Anodyne Coffee replacing Cedarburg Roastery at Milwaukee Public Market
This morning, the Milwaukee Public Market announced that Anodyne Coffee will move into a space on the southwest corner of the market, across from Margarita Paradise and The Spice House, replacing Cedarburg Coffee Roastery.

Two winners were announced this past week in the Hottest Kitchen Entrepreneur contest.
5. Two new Mexican food options seeking licenses
It appears that two new Mexican restaurants are prepping to open soon in Milwaukee.
6. Another Pita Pit for Milwaukee
A Pita Pit will move into the space that was formerly a Quizno's, 229 E. Wisconsin Ave. This is the second Pita Pit to open in Milwaukee. The other is located at 2224 N. Farwell Ave. on Milwaukee's East Side.
7. Bayshore's Hom Wood-fired Grill will open soon and with a new menu
Last month, OnMilwaukee.com reported that a second Hom Wood-fired Grill would open at the Bayshore Town Center in mid-July. It was announced today that the restaurant, owned by the SURG Restaurant Group, will open at the end of July and will feature a new menu.
8. The Cheel will open this weekend
The area's first Himalayan restaurant will open in Thiensville this weekend.
9. Hawthorne Coffee reaches milestone
Steve Hawthorne, co-owner of Hawthorne Coffee Roasters, will step into his role with the company full-time this week.
10. The simple pleasure of sparkling water on tap
Not only is the Third Ward Colectivo full of great food, coffee and beer, it boasts something that really sets it apart and makes it even more of a destination - sparkling water on tap. I know, I know it's not that exciting. But it kind of is.

Antonio's Pizza, at the corner of Locust and Weil, quietly closed a few months ago. Tuk's Thai Kitchen will soon replace it.
15. Dogg Haus expands to Twin Cities
Milwaukee's homegrown sausage chain, The Dogg Haus, has reached an area development agreement with Minneapolis-based Freestyle Enterprises, LLC, to expand into the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area.
16. A trip into Thai cuisine with steamed dumplings
As the tiny shallots, baby bok choy and dried birds-eye chilis begin to appear in local markets, I start to get excited about Thai food. So this week, I thought I'd try a spin on steamed dumplings.

21. Bartolotta's begins work on Downtown Kitchen in U.S. Bank Building
Today, the Bartolottas took over The Lakeview Market cafeteria on the Galleria Level of the U.S. Bank Building and will begin renovating the space.
22. New cafe open on East Wisconsin Avenue
Though some minor work is still being done, the 600 East Cafe and Business Center has opened on the northeast corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Jackson Street. There's seating inside, but there's also a walk-up window for joe on the go.
23. Thai-namite to replace Sushi-A-Go-Go at Public Market
The Milwaukee Public Market announced today that Thai-Namite - a Brady Street sushi and Thai restaurant - will move into the space that is currently occupied by Sushi-A-Go-Go.
24. Miss Beverly's Deluxe Barbecue to open July 12
Last month, OnMilwaukee.com reported that The Bartolotta Restaurants will open Miss Beverly's Deluxe Barbeque. At the time, the exact opening date of the restaurant was unknown, but it was announced today Miss Beverly's will open Friday, July 11 at 11 a.m.
25. How to make a farmers market showcase dinner starring mushrooms
Early summer at Milwaukee area farmers markets is always kind of a mixed bag, even more so this year after the long, persistent winter. We ventured out to the Tosa Farmers Market this weekend and were pleasantly surprised. I wanted to make something that showcased the mushrooms from the market and made use of the avalanche of spring onions at every produce stand, so I thought a tart was a nice choice, topped with some fresh chèvre.
