Milwaukee’s Bike-In Movie Series has been going strong for nine years, but has recently shifted hands between the primary volunteers, including those who previously raised funds through commercial sponsors. Thus, the series is now hitting the digital streets via a new GoFundMe.

The series hopes to raise $2,500 to license five movies through summer and fall and pay for portable restrooms. As is common with this type of fundraising, those who offer their support can receive a range of rewards.

Historically, the Bike-In Movie Series has shown a free movie at the end of each month in the Swing Park under the Holton Street Viaduct. The series is set to start in June and end in October. Participants are encouraged to ride their bikes (or walk) and bring picnicking supplies, such as chairs, blankets and refreshments.

Movies are extra rewarding on rainy nights; a position under the bridge allows viewers to enjoy the outdoor entertainment while staying dry.

If all goes according to plan, the schedule is as follows:

  • 6/16 - Space Jam
  • 7/21 - Princess Bride
  • 8/18 - Back to the Future 2
  • 9/15 - The Muppet Movie
  • 10/20 - E.T.

You can find out more about the series on their Facebook Page and offer your support on their GoFundMe page.
