Mike Brenner, owner of Hotcakes Gallery, will close his gallery in July in protest of the Bronze Fonz statue going up in Downtown Milwaukee. Brenner received a lot of media attention before and after he made his decision, as well as numerous angry voice mail messages that visitors can listen to now on the Hotcakes Web site.
"I bought an adapter for my iPhone so you could all hear what a few average Wisconsinites and Fonzie lovers had to say to me," says Brenner via his Web site.
There are five recorded messages on the site, including one that threatens Brenner will "end up like Dahmer."

I agree with a few of the other posters here. Enough already. Unfortunate he's getting threats, but aside from criticizing the statue he was also critical of Milwaukeeans in his earlier post on this site. Of course some people are going to be angry with him. Let's move on, OMC. What's going on at Paper Boat? Or Luckystar?

there's a hilarious photo of Brenner and a not so funny posting on Craig's List...along with two other Milwaukee artists looking for love in all the wrong places

Now he can claim his website has more traffic and claim that his warpath it the right side. Please leave, Mike! I heard the UP of Michigan and its high society of trailer parks need some fantastic artwork. Turn that into your little playground.

This guy's goodbye is getting longer and longer. We get it, not all art lives up to your standards. But there's art I don't like too - like that big orange metal thing at the end of Wisconsin Ave. I don't expect the city to remove it just because it's ugly.

please stop, just STOP, giving this egomaniac more free press. you're being used OMC, and someone at the office, anyone, has to be smart enough to realize that.
