The Broadway Across America -- Milwaukee 2009-10 Season brings five big touring Broadway shows to Milwaukee, including "Wicked."
"Of course we are thrilled to be bringing 'Wicked' for its premiere engagement in Milwaukee," said Tom Gergerich, executive vice president of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. "We are encouraging people to become season ticket holders if they aren't already so they can secure their seats for 'Wicked,' as tickets are sure to go fast."
Kicking off the season, released today by the Marcus Center, is Broadway's most talked about groundbreaking new musical, "Spring Awakening." It opens Oct. 6.
Next, it's "Dreamgirls" in January 2010. Then, direct from Broadway, comes a new production of "Grease," starring "American Idol" winner and occasional Milwaukee visitor Taylor Hicks as Teen Angel.
Next, you can take a journey from the malls of Malibu to the halls of justice with "Legally Blonde -- The Musical" in April. Finally, the spellbinding musical "Wicked" tells the untold story of the witches of Oz.
Here's the complete 2009-10 schedule:
"Spring Awakeing" Oct. 6-11
"Dreamgirls" Jan. 5-10, 2010
"Grease" Feb. 23-28, 2010
"Legally Blonde: The Musical" April 13-18, 2010
"Wicked" July 14-Aug. 8, 2010

If you liked Rent, you will probably like Spring Awakening. I saw the show at the Eugene O'Neil Theatre this past July (2008). I highly recommend it. The subject matter may not be appropriate for children though.
