The Milwaukee County Historical Society, 910 N. Old World Third St., has announced the appointment of philanthropy leader Deborah Fugenschuh as its new executive director.

Fugenschuh assumed her post today, June 24. She has been president and CEO of the Donors Forum of Wisconsin, which promotes philanthropy and trains grant-makers among family foundations, corporations and individuals. Under her leadership, the forum grew from 50 members to 140, with an annual budget of $800,000.

She has also worked to raise funds for the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, United Way and other civic ventures. She has also written and lectured extensively about philanthropy.

"Deborah's proven fundraising and networking skills, her ability to inspire people and her broad knowledge of the community and its cultural resources will serve us well," said Randy Bryant, president of the society's board of directors.
