The Milwaukee Art Museum has acquired 179 works by untrained and folk artists from the collection of late playwright and art collector Lanford Wilson.

Wilson's collection includes work by self-taught artists William Hawkins, Eddie Arning, Joseph Yoakum and others. With this addition, the MAM has become the leading North American institution for work by untrained creators.

An exhibition of work from the Wilson Collection is planned in the near future.
