The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts has announced its Off-Broadway series for Vogel Hall.
The first show comes direct from New York. "Altar Boyz," April 15-26, is a musical-comedy spoof about a fictitious Christian boy-band on the last night of their national "Raise the Praise" tour. Single tickets go on sale March 8.
The Marcus Center and the Milwaukee Rep collaborate to bring back one of Milwaukee's favorite comedies, "Shear Madness," May 13-June 14. Set in a unisex hairstyling salon and filled with local, spontaneous humor, "Shear" is a whodunit in which the audience can get involved in solving the murder of Isabel Czerny, the salon's landlady and former world-class pianist. Single tickets go on sale April 5.
Audiences will get to enjoy the dynamic duo of Chris Tarjan and John McGivern as they star in "Bunk Bed Brothers," Oct. 7-Nov. 15. This critically acclaimed comedy from two former Seinfeld writers is hailed as "Hysterically Funny," "A laugh-a-minute" and "Inventive and witty." Single tickets go on sale Aug. 23.
Three-show subscription packages are on sale now for $99.

I saw Altar Boyz in New York a couple of years ago. I loved it! It's just silly good fun and who doesn't need that right now. I think it helps if you are or have been Catholic but any faith background would find it a funny spoof on boy bands/contemporary Christian music. Find out if you have "Crunk"...go to the show!!!
