This week brought sleet and / or snow to some areas, but hang in there because this Friday's spring Gallery Night is going to live up to its name. Weather.com tells us to plan for sunshine and temps in the 60s, which makes the quarterly gallery crawl a perfect opportunity to get out on the town without your winter hat.
There are more than 60 spots slinging art this time, and if you can't get to all of them, be sure to make it to a few on this list, especially Paper Boat Boutique, as this Friday is the shop's last art opening before closing for good on May 31.
Paper Boat Boutique
2375 S. Howell Ave.

This is it guys; your last chance to attend an opening at Bay View's darling little Paper Boat Gallery before it sails off into the sunset for good (May 31 is closing day). In the meantime, catch a 7-10 p.m. reception for "Bullies," featuring work by Wisconsin artist Micaela O'Herlihy.
Turner Hall Ballroom
1032 N. 4th St.

An evening of fashion, music and art. The fashion portion of the evening will feature a runway show with four local boutiques (Detour, Fashion Ninja, Yellow Jacket, Hot Pop) and three designers (Madam Chino, Ericka Fox, Hex Designs). On the music end you've got Milwaukee's Codebreaker, Perfect Little Monster, The Etiquette, Kid Millions and King Hell Bastard, with DJ sets from No Requests Sound, The Glamour and Chalice in the Palace. $13 at the box office.
The Wherehouse

Doors open at 9 p.m. with live visuals by Beeple (Mike Winkelmann of DoneBestDone), the main show is Present Music and the Minneapolis-based band NOBOT in alternating sets, and WMSE's BTS.WRKNG (John Gelzer) will spin dance music from 11:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. $10 at the door or at presentmusic.org.
Hot Pop
213 N. Broadway

Milwaukee's Dwellephant is back for another round at Hot Pop as he goes head to head with a 6-year-old in the Dwella vs. Ella show. If you missed the March 7 opening, this is your chance to make up for it.
Armoury Gallery

Focusing specifically on professional artists working as art professors and instructors in Milwaukee, the "Night Work" exhibit is an exciting cross section of some of Milwaukee's most talented and recognized artists; three of whom are featured in the "Current Tendencies" exhibition at the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University. The show is up through May 2.
Interior Systems, Inc.
241 N. Broadway, suite 600

Interior Systems employees used scrap materials from various areas of ISI production to create unique pieces of fine art and craft for the second annual "Upcycled Showcase." Works from the show will be sold in a silent auction with all proceeds to benefit Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee.

Everyone should go see the Gallery Night exhibit at 222 E. Erie Street featuring works from Community High School students. Show your support for young artists!
