Waukesha BluesFest, presented by the Waukesha Rotary Club, is entering its ninth year of offering an exciting line-up of national and area musicians along with a high class art show, delicious food and a wide selection of beverages, all held at Naga-Waukee Park on Highway 83 just north of I94 in Delafield. The festival will be held Friday Aug. 7 and Saturday, Aug. 8.

Waukesha BluesFest is a celebration of the "Roots" of American Music, which includes blues, rock and roll, country, gospel, soul, jazz, folk and more. Their mission is to present a widely diverse line up of musical styles that will thrill and entertain any lover of good music and the history behind the music.

The Waukesha Rotary Club is currently conducting its annual "Festival Art Poster" design contest. Submissions will be judged by the Waukesha BluesFest Art Show Chairperson and members of the festival planning committee.

The contest is open to all interested artists. The winner will receive a $100 prize and 4 weekend pass tickets to the festival. Second place will receive 4 weekend pass tickets to the festival and third place will receive 2 weekend pass tickets. The winning poster will be printed and available for sale as the official commemorative poster of the 2015 Waukesha BluesFest with all proceeds going to support the festival.

General guidelines for the design of the 2015 poster include the following:

  • Artwork should depict the general themes of the event, "Blues Music" and "An American Music and Art Festival"
  • Artwork must include the name of the festival, Waukesha BluesFest
  • Artwork must include the dates and year of the festival
  • Poster will be printed on 12" x 18" paper in a vertical format with no bleeds, so the design boundaries must be roughly 11.5" x 17.5"
  • Artwork can be full color or a mix of color and black & white
  • Final artwork design must be printer-ready in an electronic format

All entries must be received by the deadline date of May 15 to be considered.

Submissions should be sent via electronic file (pdf or jpg) to rmittnacht@wi.rr.com, with the contestant’s name, address and phone number included with the submission. Winners will be chosen and notified by June 10. A press release and possible photo opportunity with the winning entry artist and committee judges will follow.
