This Friday, Aug. 8 Centro Legal offers an evening of appetizers and auction at the InterContinental Hotel. Women Helping Women supports Centro Legal's legal services, specifically focusing on the firm's provisions for low-income women in the community.

Live auction items include airline tickets, Packers tickets, an autographed Ryan Braun bat and a custom jewelry package. The silent auction has dozens of items to choose from including symphony tickets, spa packages, dinner gift certificates and autographed Brewers paraphernalia.

Tickets are $45 per person and include entrance to the event, appetizers, live music and signature drinks. The event runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The only firm of its kind in the Milwaukee area, Centro Legal provides legal representation on a sliding scale, rendering services based on income level. Providing representation in both criminal and family, Centro Legal has serviced the city's low-income populations for over 30 years.

Centro Legal initiates Women Helping Women in response to lacking support for single mothers and low-income women in the community. Nearly 85 percent of Centro Legal's clients are women whose income falls below the poverty line. Centro Legal often represents women who would otherwise face the justice system alone as they deal with issues of divorce, child support and family violence.

In addition to Women Helping Women, Centro Legal also hosts the young professionals wine tasting at the Eisner Museum each spring and the luncheon for the legal community, to be held next winter.
