Food of the Future Summer Camp
Food of the Future is a week-long exploration of what food could be when mixed with a little chemistry and science. Experiences include modifying ingredients, techniques, and sometimes just making something strange. Explore the science behind new food ideas; create liquid nitrogen ice cream, marshmallows of the future, chocolate mushrooms, and more! Learn how to use sodium alginate and calcium lactate to create a molecular raw egg out of coconut milk and fruit. See all the tricks that top chefs are using and produce incredible dishes! For students entering grades 3rd through 5th.
Custom Electric Guitar Designer Summer Camp
Assemble your own electric guitar; create custom graphics; screen print on your guitar; design images for your pick guard; and then get an expert tune-up. Youíll do all of this in one week in the NEW Bill Brady Intelligent Products Lab at Discovery World. Our electronic professionals will show you how to wire your guitar for new sonic possibilities and our printing pros will guide you through the process to customize your guitar. And YES, the guitar is yours to keep! For students entering grades 6th through 8th.
Fish, Fish, Fish Summer Camp
Become a biologist! Cast off and fish with the staff from the WI DNR at Lakeshore State Park. Not only will you pet the fish in the Reiman Aquarium, but youíll get a behind-the-scenes tour to see how the Aquarium runs. Look at invasive species by setting traps in Lake Michigan, and build your own terrarium to take home. Youíll want to live underwater after this camp experience! For students entering grades 3rd through 5th.
Airborne Summer Camp
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No - itís a flying creation from the Kohlís Design It! Lab! Spend the week learning about aerodynamics, materials made for flight, and the best designs for lift off. Use heat sealers and Tyvekģ to make your own kite and test it against the elements in Lakeshore State Park. Create your own windsock inspired by the fish of the Reiman Aquarium and design, test, and redesign your own rocket to be launched at the end of the week. For students entering grades 6th through 8th.
Underwater Robotics Summer Camp
Back by popular demand! Dive into the world of underwater robots as you build and test your own ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle). Investigate the principles and technologies used in the creation of underwater robotic vehicles and their role in discovery, science, and exploration. Board a boat and pilot your ROV in Lake Michigan.** Youíll be able to take your ROV home at the end of the week. **Weather dependent For students entering grades 9th through 12th.
