Kooky Cooky Opening Party

Get a sneak peak and celebrate the return of the Kooky Cooky House at Discovery World with a special Kooky Cooky Opening Party on Tuesday, November 25th! Join Gino Salomone, special guests, and the builders of this great new exhibit, as we kick off the holiday season with the first opportunity to experience the rebirth of a Milwaukee holiday icon. Relive the magic of your youth or see it for the first time – the mechanical cookie factory that features dozens of moving parts as gingerbread cookies are created by Santa’s helpers. This fundraising event costs $25 per person, with all proceeds going towards the costs of building the Kooky Cooky House. We hope you’ll join us to support the return of the legendary Kooky Cooky House! Gingerbread cookies will be included, and we will have some other fun surprises for you as well! Cash Bar available.

Marketplace Tactics for Entrepreneurs

This workshop will consist of ongoing collaborative games where the rules constantly change, and you and your “company” must adapt. How do you grow your business with others who have the skills you need? How do you negotiate contracts with your much-needed partners? How do you work with and against your competition to sustain your business? What kids of problems arise, and how can you creatively and effectively navigate an ever-changing landscape? It’s a more realistic form of “monopoly” where you’ll learn where you shine most, and how to best work with others.

Dec. 10, 2014
Engineer Webelos Activity Badge

Construct a working circuit, design a floor plan, and build your own catapult while working towards the Engineer Badge. Scouts will learn about simple machines and hear about the many different careers in engineering.

Dec. 12, 2014
Boy Scout Photography Merit Badge

Scouts will learn to shoot like the professionals and will leave Discovery World a confident photographer. Learn the basics of cameras and photography, take photo shoots around Discovery World, and then learn how to edit your photos in Photoshop®. Scouts are encouraged to bring their own cameras, but are not required.

Dec. 13, 2014
Electricity Boy Scout Merit Badge

Discover the secrets of electricity by making an electro-magnet and a light switch. Learn how to rescue someone touching a live wire, find out how to make a battery, and learn what to do during an electrical storm! Scouts will need to complete Requirements #2 and #8 prior to attending the workshop. Please bring proof of completion to the workshop so the Merit Badge Counselor can sign off on the Blue Card.
