Scientist Webelos Activity Badge

Investigate Bernoulli’s Principle, Pascal’s Law, and Newton’s first law of motion through hands-on demonstrations and experiments. After the Scouts show the effects of atmospheric, air, and water pressure they’ll be able to talk to learn about careers as a scientist.

Meet Me @ The Lake Sleepover

Friday, May 8th, 7pm – Saturday, May 9th, 7am BY POPULAR DEMAND! Join us for our first public sleepover! Bring your family and friends to see what Discovery World looks like after dark. Come pet the sharks, marvel at our interactive exhibits, and have fun exploring the whole museum before taking part in two labs offered for the evening. In these labs, you’ll discover the science behind bubbles through a series of hands-on investigations, and learn the process of creating unique scents as you design a customized room spray. Finish the night with a movie in one of our theaters, and then settle in to sleep as you overlook Lake Michigan. With the museum open and structured activities running until midnight, all children attending must be age 7+ and adult supervision is required. A minimum of 1 adult is required for every 4 children attending. Members: $10/adult, $25/child Non-Members: $15/adult, $35/child This evening is also Members Night! Household Adhesives 101

Saturday, May 9th 10:30-12pm AND 1-2:30pm OPEN LAB – STOP IN TO SEE DEMOS! FREE with General Admission Spring is a great time to get started on home improvement projects, but not all glues are the same. What fixes your coffee mug might not work on that toy. Learn how adhesives work as we explore the chemistry and proper use of household adhesives. This experience is family-friendly. Adult supervision is required.

Brownie Girl Scout Household Elf Badge

Girl Scouts will visit Discovery World’s Eco-Home to learn about different things they can do in their home to save energy, along with devising a plan to save water and create their own natural air freshener that is safe for the environment! Girl Scouts will even get a chance to design their own reusable bag made out of recycled materials from the Kohl’s Design It! Lab.

Junior Girl Scout Flowers Badge

Become a botanist as you dissect a flower and learn which flowers can be made into medicines to help with common illnesses. Design a flower bouquet out of non-traditional materials and find out what happens when you mix the natural world with the man-made world as you vacuum form flowers in the Kohl’s Design It! Lab.
