Opera singers (and married couple) Alfreda Burke and Rodrick Dixon will visit the MPS' Milwaukee High School of the Arts, 2300 W. Highland Ave., today at 2 p.m.

The visit is part of a nationwide program called HistoryMakers that brings prominent African-Americans into schools to encourage students to commit to their education.

According to HistoryMakers organizers, the Burke and Dixon will "personally recount their own school experiences and the struggles that they encountered on their paths to success, and most importantly, to encourage students to commit to their education."
