When it comes to bouncing in large inflatables -- aka "bouncy houses" -- most kids are naturals. In the past few years, the metro Milwaukee area welcomed multiple indoor bouncing facilities including Monkey Joe's in Waukesha, Brookfield's Pump It Up and, most recently, Flabbergast, W248N5250 Executive Dr., in Sussex.

Flabbergast is a 15,000-sqare-foot fun center with a 50-game arcade, a half-dozen giant inflatables and a huge obstacle challenge with a triple slide. Parents and kids can drop in at any time.

"Flabbergast has open play all day, every day," says Tammy Lorentz, Flabbergast manager.

Flabbergast is recommended for kids ages 2-14. There is a separate play section for toddlers.

The cost is $9.95 per child on the weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) or $7.95 during the week (Sunday-Thursday). Adults and kids under age 1 are free.

"Adults are allowed on our equipment at any time to assist their children," says Lorentz.

To ensure child safety, Flabbergast has an electronic alarmed child security system. If a door opens for any reason -- other than the front door -- and alarm goes off.

Plus, Lorenze says Flabbergast is vigilant about checking wrist bands when kids leave, has indoor / outdoor cameras monitoring the facility and they do not allow adults to come in without children, even if they just want to access the arcade.

"Our staff is trained in CPR and Code Adam as well," she says.

To promote a healthy environment, Flabbergast has a full-time custodian and, according to Lorentz, this is rare in the industry.

"We sanitize our equipment every single day, and our custodian is here, daily, killing any germs that may be hanging around," says Lorentz.

Flabbergast features four party rooms, a fully-stocked concessions stand serving the usual "pizza-nachos-pretzels" kid-friendly fare, a large prize area and a parents' lounge with Wi-Fi, HDTV and leather recliners.

Flabbergast offers a variety of birthday party packages. The average cost of a party is $300, which includes a weekend party date, 16 guests and the inclusion of everything except the birthday cake. (Food, drink, tokens, a prize for the birthday child, set-up, clean-up and a staff person.)

Flabbergast is hosting a summer birthday party special that costs $150 and allows 10 guests.

Parents must sign a waiver for kids to play at Flabbergast, and they must remain on the premise at all times with their children. All kids must wear socks when bouncing.

"Flabbergast is a fun, althletic environment for kids. They really love it," says Lorentz.
