OnMilwaukee.com loves a computer-savvy 4-year-old, which is why Charlie Hartenstein is the perfect kid to be the first "Mini Milwaukeean" of 2007.
"Charlie likes to 'Google' superheroes on the computer," says his mom, Dana, who works for Pursuit Live, a concert consulting business.
When he's not surfing the Internet for images of the alter egos of Peter Parker or Clark Kent, Charlie likes to swim, read and pretend to be -- you guessed it -- superheroes.
"Charlie is very lively, very funny, friendly and outgoing," says Dana.
Charlie, who was born at St. Mary's in Mequon on Sept. 25, 2002, attends a YMCA daycare center. "One of his daycare teachers told me recently that Charlie 'definitely marches to the beat of his own drummer,'" says Dana.
When out and about in the city, Charlie -- along with his mom and his dad, Ken, a sales representative for WKLH -- loves to root for the Brewers at Miller Park, hang out at the lakefront, see the Bucks and Admirals at the Bradley Center and go to plays at First Stage Children's Theatre.
"And he's been working through his fear of skeletons at the Milwaukee Public Museum," says Dana.
Nominate your kid to be OMC's next "Mini-Milwaukeean of the Month!"
Every month, we'll select one Brew City babe (suburban kids are also
eligible) and write a little article about him or her. Then, Mom or Dad
can forward the article to friends and relatives -- three cheers for
cyberspace bragging rights!
Contest requirements:
1. Kids entered in the contest must be between the ages of newborn and 6 years old.
2. Kids must be nominated by a family member.
3. Family must live in the Metro Milwaukee area.
Note: Preference will be given to kids photographed in a recognizable Milwaukee setting or wearing Milwaukee/Wisconsin gear.
So, e-mail your favorite digital photo to us, the name and age of your child and your name. If we pick your mini for the month, we'll email you back and ask for more information for the article.
E-mail molly@staff.onmilwaukee.com and type "Mini Milwaukeean" in the subject line. There is no deadline for this contest.
