Students from the Morse-Marshall School for the Gifted and Talented will visit the Milwaukee VA’s Spinal Cord Injury Building Jan. 12. Gifts of 10 handmade wheelchair hub caps are to be presented to veterans by the group of students.

The event begins at 11 a.m. in the Recreation Hall of the SCI Building located on the Milwaukee VA Medical Center Campus at 5000 W. National Ave. The SCI Building is located on the south side of Washington Dr.

Puhl’s Hardware donated the plexiglass hub caps to the school. The students drew eagles and painted the caps, designed to fit onto the wheels of wheelchairs, in honor of veterans.

Amy Hufnal, art teacher at Morse-Marshall, said the children are excited to present the caps to the veterans.

"The kids have worked really hard on the drawings of eagles," said Hufnal. "And it’s an amazing way for our students to give back to the veterans."
