A select few of Milwaukee's hottest female artists will perform Wed., Feb. 15 at Club Timbuktu, 520 E. Center St., for "A Vixen's Valentine." The popular Riverwest restaurant and club will be transformed into "a living portrait of women dancing in the flames."
Set to perform are the Scorcher Family, an all-original soul reggae band from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Prior to their performance, spoken words artists Tiffany aka "Cover Girl," Wanita Vang, Lotus Divine, Marajoe and more will speak their minds at 6 p.m.
Visual artists include Tanya Cromartie-Twaddle, a writer and folk artist who is showing painting and sculpture themed "33 Vessels & a WOMB."
"This body of work is an exploration of 33 years of female-hood, sisterhood, motherhood and spiritual sexuality'" she says. "Real-Raw-Life!"
KT Rusch, Barbara Chudnow, Emily Ware, Fallicy Belle, Pam Graham, Angela Smith, Tia Richardson and Shami will also show their work.
DJs Optimist and Milk Man will spin records following the live music and art show.
Doors open at 6 p.m. The event is free, but donations are welcome. This is a smoke-free, family friendly event. Call (414) 265-7000 for more information.
