Published: Nov. 22, 2009 - 3:07 p.m. - Opening 12 years ago and expanding into a second storefront three years later, Venturi's Market is tucked away on the 7200 block of W. The café and deli originally opened with Italian flavors in mind but over the years, they've expanded to carry fresh meats and cheeses, specialty canned and packaged goods along with made-from scratch deli items of all sorts.

Published: Aug. 29, 2009 - 7:05 p.m. - I have long been on a search for the ideal cookie. Sacrificing to test many along the way, my sweet tooth and preoccupation with dessert has led me to try the baked circles of bakeries, diners and cafes across the city.
4. Milwaukee Talks: Decider editor Steve Hyden

We caught up with Hyden for this latest Milwaukee Talks.
5. What's your malternative of choice?
Published: May 4, 2009 - 4:28 p.m. - The warm-weather drinking season is nearly here and to a very select few, this means one thing: malternatives. So, after Googling the word to make sure it was, in fact, a legitimate term, the OnMilwaukee.com editorial staff pooled together to research, sample and report on the best and brightest in the flavored, malt-based alcoholic beverage section of your liquor store's cooler.
6. OnMilwaukee.com Recommends: Feb. 5, 2009
Published: Feb. 5, 2009 - 11:17 a.m. - The folks who work in OnMilwaukee.com's editorial office may bristle at the "hipster" label, but we do try to be cutting edge. That's why it's natural that we're recommending a great cutting board today, along with a neat wine accessory, a delicious vegetable salad (from Lulu), some good-looking workout clothes, a classic movie and great new music from Franz Ferdinand and old music from Seal.
7. Sampling liquid gold from Jamaica
Published: Jan. 16, 2009 - 10:05 a.m. - The other day Whole Foods coffee ace Sean Quast offered me a taste of a new coffee he had received for sampling. Being a Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee -- something I can never afford to buy on my own -- and because I'm always into trying new coffees, I jumped at the chance.
8. Gobble, gobble
Published: Nov. 17, 2008 - 10:00 a.m. - Over the years I've come to realize that most people who don't appreciate a Thanksgiving turkey haven't ever had one properly roasted (or grilled as the case may be).
9. Daily dish: Tater Tot casserole
Published: Oct. 29, 2008 - 12:42 p.m. - This recipe for tater tot casserole is one of those classic, Americana dishes that isn't healthy or gourmet, but if I whipped up a batch of it right now, you'd probably grab a fork and start eating it straight from the pan.

Published: Oct. 21, 2008 - 08:17 a.m. - Bagna caoda (which translates to hot bath) is a traditional cold-weather Piedmontese dish that is enjoyed in groups, like fondue. I prefer to present it in another way: atop roasted red, yellow and orange peppers.
