On Saturday, June 29, the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company and the Milwaukee Riverkeeper invite people to help clean up the Milwaukee River as part of Leinenkugel’s "Canoes for a Cause" program.

"Milwaukee is a leader in preserving its natural water resources, and Leinenkuel’s wants to do its part to make sure it stays that way, because this city has been a special place for our family for many years," says Jake Leinenkugel, president of the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company. "We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Milwaukee Riverkeeper and support this important cause."

The cleanup will take place near Milwaukee’s Lincoln Creek. Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt, hat and transportation to and from the cleanup site. Participants will also enjoy a post clean-up celebration, featuring live music, free food and prizes.

A non-profit organization, Milwaukee Riverkeeper advocates for the Milwaukee, Menomonee and Kinnickinnic Rivers. Through programs like the Leinenkugel’s "Canoes for a Cause" initiative, the organization is able to provide hands-on river restoration and organize volunteers each year.

"We’ve made it our mission at Milwaukee Riverkeeper to protect and improve the natural beauty of Milwaukee’s rivers," says Karen Shapiro, executive director of Milwaukee Riverkeeper. "Our partnership with Leinenkugel’s allows us to continue this mission and have a lot of fun along the way."

Participants must be 21 years of age or older. For more information on how to participate, call (888) 534-6437 or email canoesforacause@leinenkugels.com.
