As you set the clocks back, ask yourself what you'd do with an extra hour every week. |

Daylight savings time ends (or ended, depending on when you're reading this) overnight. While few people seem to complain about the extra hour when we "fall back," it does raise a couple questions.
Is daylight savings time still necessary?
Doesn't it add to the dreariness of winter when it gets dark by 4:30 p.m.?
What will you do with the extra hour this weekend?
What would you do if somehow you could have an extra hour every week?
I'd have to say that sleeping, working out and perhaps reading would top my list. What about yours?

I heard this theory once - Friday at 4 pm we "spring ahead" to 5 pm - then sometime on Sunday you "fall back" again.

There are few better feelings in the world than waking up and realizing that your Sunday has an extra hour. I know that it would require a massive overhaul of the system of "time" but I'm all for making this a weekly tradition. I also think that those with religious fervor would be all for it, too, because it would be "that hour" that you could use to go to church, effectively eliminating the ubiquitous excuse "I don't have enough time" to hit the church pew. Personally, I spend any extra "found" time like this or work cancellations on indulgences like a fall color hike (yesterday) or going for a run in the middle of winter at the Pettit. Found time is like found money--best spent and enjoyed immediately and a little selfishly.
