Whether you're looking for a simple snack, delicious beer or just some practical simplicity, look no further; the OnMilwaukee.com editorial gang has some suggestions to suit your needs.

The cruller -- The donut / baked good business can be fickle. Krispy Kreme had a quick run. Cupcakes are hot these days, and deservedly so. Racine kringle is always a nice change of pace. But, the simple cruller -- done well by any of a number of local bakeries -- is a wonderful weekend treat. Dunked in coffee or milk or slathered with a little peanut butter, the cruller is simple, delicious and tough to top. -- Drew Olson

Hint Water -- Next time you drink a soda or flavored water, check the sugar content. It's alarming. So, when I found hint water at the Third Ward Starbucks, I had to try it. Unsweetened and lightly flavored, hint comes in 10 flavors. I tried the blackberry and really liked it. Nothing over powering and pretty light, Hint's a good "water" treat. -- Jeff Sherman

Save the Children tote bags -- All T.J. Maxx stores are selling three different reusable tote bags for 99 cents. Each bag has one of three different colorful designs. They're big and floppy with lots of space for beach towels, groceries or whatever. They snap at the top and have durable woven handles. The best part is that all the profits from sales of these bags goes to Save the Children's U.S. Programs, which promotes literacy, nutrition, exercise and early childhood education in 14 states. When you check out, you'll also be asked to donate a dollar to Save the Children and 100 percent of that money, of course, goes to the U.S. Programs, too. Since this program was launched in 2000, more than $11 million has been raised. -- Bobby Tanzilo

USB rechargeable batteries -- The standard of USB is a cool one. Using the same, universal port, you can hook up everything from a digital camera to a desk fan, and now, rechargeable batteries. For many reasons, rechargeable batteries make so much sense, but it's not always convenient to carry around a plug-in charger. Using the USB port on your computer, though, is a great idea, especially if you need AA batteries to charge your Bluetooth mouse or keyboard. This invention from USBCell provides 1300 mAH of juice to these Ni-MH batteries, and they take about five hours to charge via USB (or seven hours through a traditional charger). You just flip the top back, plug and play. An LED light lets you know when it's charging, and when it's full. Brilliant! A pair sells for about $18 on Amazon.com. -- Andy Tarnoff

Hofbrau Sommer -- When the Old German Beer Hall introduced this seasonal brew, I fell in love. With a light, smooth but full flavor, HB Sommer is the perfect beer to enjoy while sitting outside, watching the city pass by on a hot, sticky Milwaukee summer evening. It may not be some fancy, nobody-knows-about-it microbrew, but it sure is tasty. A liter Maß of Sommer goes for $11. You could get a 1/2 or 1/3-liter but ... you are a grown-up, aren't you? -- Andrew Wagner
