It's a camp-tacular time of year. Or not. |

For those folks who like to sack out in the woods, battle bugs and eat food cooked over an open fire, it's a great time of year. Camping season is here.
But camping is a controversial hobby, one that people seem to either love or hate. How about you? Are you a happy camper or are you at zero with nature?
Sound-off, Milwaukee, about your thoughts on temporary living in the great outdoors.
Camping rocks. Camping is an affordable vacation that provides serenity that's not attainable in the city. Plus, it challenges you to employ skills you don't use beyond the campground. Camping reminds that the simplest things -- food, shelter and the company of friends or family -- are the most important and enjoyable aspects of life.
Camping sucks. I find camping uncomfortable and boring. I don't like to go without showering, I hate bugs and living in nature is not my thing. Give me a hotel, motel or bed and breakfast any day over a camp ground. Camping is for bears and hippies.

There's campgrounds with showers, restrooms, hookups, etc. but I kind of gave this up a few years ago when more people decided to bring almost all of the comforts of home with them camping (TV, DVDs, video games...and really noisy generators). I still have great memories of camping near the Wolf River but due to the new camping habits people have acquired those days are over.

Living outside, sleeping on the ground....Isn't that homelessness? I love the outdoors, but I love indoor plumbing too.

I work too hard all year long to use my vacation time living like a cave man. Camping sucks. I can do the cabin thing provided there is at least basic cable, Internet, and indoor plumbing .That is as much "roughing it" I am able to take.

Camping, especially backpack camping, keeps us phisically fit and emotionally prepared. There's huge boost to anyone spirit once he knows that he can survive any bad weather and have fun during it. Think if you're ready to defend your country or fight tyranny if you cannot survive without warm bed of an X-star hotel and pay your tribute to your country by taking it to the wild on Memorial day.
