1. Predicting the biggest events of this decade
Published: Dec. 1, 2009 - 11:01 a.m. - We're 31 days away from 2010 and in the coming weeks, news magazines will begin to debate what events dominated and shaped the first decade of the 21st century. These would be my predictions, for the most influential national events and Milwaukee stories in the last decade. And to add debate to controversy, I've ranked them from the most important on down.
2. A little of this, a little of that ...
Published: Dec. 1, 2009 - 09:02 a.m. - Dave Begel clears out his mind -- and notebook -- with reflections on Tiger Woods' fall from grace, a tragic chapter in Dean "The Dream" Meminger's story and a little fawning for the Packers' Charles Woodson.
3. Are you dreaming of a green Christmas?
Published: Dec. 1, 2009 - 05:31 a.m. - Being environmentally conscious doesn't have to mean giving up all the glitz and glory of the holiday, if that's what you enjoy. Rather, it's about celebrating responsibly and recognizing that the season of giving should include a gift or two to our Mother Earth.
4. A future for film photography?
Published: Nov. 29, 2009 - 11:04 p.m. - Will there be a point at which film is no longer easily processed? Like eight track or mini disc players, will film photography be relegated to rummage sale shelves and eBay purchases?
5. Christmas tree buyer's guide
Published: Nov. 28, 2009 - 11:19 a.m. - Need a tree or a wreath? Here's a list of places throughout Southeastern Wisconsin that can help you out. Most places offer the opportunity to choose and cut your tree or purchase a pre-cut tree.
6. "Sesame Street Live" celebrates 100 with "1-2-3"
Published: Nov. 26, 2009 - 09:17 a.m. - Although I had never pictured myself at a "Sesame Street Live" performance, I'm now a veteran of two, and soon three, shows. That makes me one of more than 50 million people who have witnessed these great characters on stage.
7. Even up north, the Bucks are the talk of the town
Published: Nov. 22, 2009 - 4:57 p.m. - They may not usurp the local football squad in terms of fan interest, but the Bucks are making inroads in Green Bay and around the state. That's a sign of progress.
8. From Begel, with love ...
Published: Nov. 17, 2009 - 09:09 a.m. - Dave Begel has a few thoughts to share with Mark Murphy, so he decided to write the Green Bay Packers president and CEO a little letter.
9. Milwaukee Talks: "Morning Blend" co-host Tiffany Ogle
Published: Nov. 12, 2009 - 4:04 p.m. - Minnesota native Tiffany Ogle is finishing her second week as the new co-host of Channel 4's "Morning Blend," the 9 a.m. weekday show that that combines, chat, interviews and ad content. And the first thing to know about her is that she isn't a Viking fan.
10. Gig roundup: Green River Ordinance gets grassroots support
Published: Nov. 9, 2009 - 09:03 a.m. - It was a long way to go, but Fort Worth quintet Green River Ordinance got there in a short period of time. The band's name refers to the colloquial name for laws banning door-to-door sales. So it's ironic that a groundswell of support led to an opening slot for Bon Jovi in Dallas just a couple years after the band recorded its debut in its church basement.
11. On the town in Milwaukee: Stacking up against NYC
Published: Nov. 6, 2009 - 3:07 p.m. - New York City, which went smoke-free in 2002, made the leap and adjusted successfully. A city that never sleeps, nightlife culture promotes late night adventure with 4 a.m. bar times and late-night eateries on every corner.

15. Twitter is no place for twits
Published: Oct. 7, 2009 - 4:24 p.m. - When do your employees stop becoming representatives of your company and start becoming private citizens? When are they officially off the clock? When they walk out the door at the end of the work day, are they private citizens who are no longer held to the same standards of behavior? When they get home, are they no longer considered to be on the job?

18. Which quarterback is No. 1? Favre leaves little doubt
Published: Oct. 6, 2009 - 05:22 a.m. - Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre is going to turn 40 next week, and there can be no doubt that he is still, at his advanced age, one of the top quarterbacks in the National Football League. Sure, his Vikings are better than Aaron Rodgers' Packers. But part of that, a big part, is that Favre is better than Rodgers. It's not even close.

24. Packers vs. Cardinals: Things to watch tonight
Published: Aug. 28, 2009 - 2:17 p.m. - We all know the National Football League exhibition season is meaningless. Heck, the Lions were unbeaten in practice games last year and went 0-16 when the games counted. The third preseason game, though, which the Packers will play against Arizona tonight at University of Phoenix Stadium, is the most meaningful of the meaningless. The starters will play into the second half and we'll find out of the Packers can maintain the momentum from two impressive (but still meaningless) victories.
