Lists are lists, but I love them so I report on them.

Milwaukee's made another one today, but just barely.

Vocativ, the recently launched "news site for the Digital Generation," today announced the publication of its first Livability Index, using the company's unique Deep Web analysis and methodology to rank the "35 Best US Cities for People 35 and Under."

Milwaukee landed at No. 34, right behind Philadelphia and ahead of Colorado Springs.  Portland, Austin, San Francisco, Seattle and Minneapolis topped the list.  Chicago didn't make the list.

Twenty factors were used to rank each city, with youngest population, lowest average rents, cheapest gas and electricity, lowest average cost of food and public transportation ridership at the top of the list.   Milwaukee was the second youngest city on the list with a median age of 30.5 (according to 5-year estimates from 2007 to 2011).

"We wanted to create a semi-exhaustive, mostly scientific guide to America's most livable cities based on criteria our readers actually care about," says Scott Cohen, CEO of Vocativ.  "When you take a look at the results, a picture starts to emerge that is often surprising. Like, maybe moving to Fresno isn't totally insane."

Here's what the site had to say about Milwaukee:

"Brewtown USA isn’t just about the frosty hops; there’s also a lively arts and music scene, as well as a diverse job market that stretches from tech to communications to commerce. Situated on the bluffs of Lake Michigan, the city is seeing its population rise again after years of decline. Thrift and vintage stores are plentiful, beer is cheap and rent rings up at about $840 a month."
