Brookfield Boston Store hosting a day of fashion

Boston Store in Brookfield Square Mall is hosting a pair of fashion events on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The first event, Trendévous, will kick off with a private shoe shopping event at 7:30 a.m. in the store's newly expanded shoe department. For every pair of shoes purchased, Boston Store will give $1 to Soles4Souls, a charity that donates shoes to adults and children in need.

At 8:30 a.m., a fashion show will display the latest fall trends and introduce John Bartlett's two new collections, John Bartlett Consensus and John Bartlett Statements.

Bartlett will be on hand to share his styling tips and help guests shop the collections. Seating for the fashion show are limited. Reservations are $10 and include a $10 Boston Store gift card, gift bag and refreshments.

At the conclusion of Trendévous, guests are invited to a fashion show to launch the Nine West Vintage America Collection, hosted by Lucky magazine. Guests can preview the new fall collection while enjoying a performance by singer/songwriter Nora Collins.

I almost can`t believe I`m writing this, but I think major retailers should give one more shot at saving the Grand Avenue mall. Guess what: There are lots of people at the Grand Avenue mall. Not tons, like I remember it in the `80s, and they`re not necessarily shopping at the pre-paid wireless stores or nail salons. They`re eating lunch or meeting at the Stone Creek Coffee or working out at the YMCA or scouring T.J. Maxx for bargains.
