Hot Pop is moving

After five years in its current Third Ward location, Hot Pop, 213 N. Broadway, will move to 201 N. Water St.

Hot Pop, owned by Margaret Martin, is a quirky, creative gallery and art boutique with a large selection of locally-made items.

The new shop will open within the first two weeks of October. Store manager Brandy Boyd says it depends on when the build-out of the new space is complete.

Although the new store will be about the same amount of space, it will have a different shape.

"More oval," says Boyd.

The merchandise will be similar, with about six or seven more vendors and an increase in housewares and ceramics.

"We're going to 'grow up' the brand a little bit," says Boyd.

Currently, the shop is having a 50 percent-off moving sale.

One business suggestion, get a real website or a facebook page instead of a Myspace page. Not the best way to promote your business. Most people (myself included) thought Myspace went out of business years ago.
