This month's Style Spotlight is a blogger whose street style looks plucked right of New York Fashion Week. She always has unique pieces that are conversation starters mixed with classic pieces and a voice on social media that anyone can relate to. And she happens to be one of my best friends. Katherine Clemins of Bordeaux Blvd is a Milwaukee-based influencer that you are going to want to follow as her fabulous style journey is just getting started!

OnMilwaukee: How did you start your journey in blogging? 

Katherine Clemins: Like most stylish women, people inquired about where I got my outfits from. After feeling restricted by Instagram, I finally decided to start a website. The friends and experiences I have made throughout blogging are the biggest reward.  

What is the meaning behind the name Bordeaux Blvd? 

I wanted a name that sounded like a destination for everything that I love. Not only do I love the color bordeaux, but give me wine any day. 

How would you describe your personal style? 

I love to be edgy yet monochromatic. It's nice to see a twist on the everyday basics. Taking risks and buying the unique pieces is what I live for! When blogging, I want my readers to feel confident in trying new trends and pieces. Sometimes I like to throw together random pieces and see if it works. Fashion is about being creative and having fun!

What are five items in your closet you can't live without? 

My black Donald J Pliner booties, they were the perfect investment for the everyday bootie; a gray long duster, layer, layer, layer; a red moto jacket, gives you the perfect pop of edgy color; anything bordeaux in my closet; and finally, my huge mule collection. The older I get, I notice I swap out the heels for more unique comfortable options. 

If you could trade closets with any celeb, who would it be and why?

Olivia Palermo, hands down. I truly scroll through Pinterest images of her when I need inspiration. Her style has that perfect mixture of risk and classic. The way she creates her outfits is like art – unique and perfectly created. Her new line from Banana Republic has pieces that I could totally see in my closet. 

What are your fave trends that are happening this season?

Red! How perfect that it will flow from fall to the holidays! Given that I am not extremely girly, the dark floral trend works well with my style.

Where are you fave places to shop in Milwaukee?

I would have to say that Hyde Park in Wauwatosa is the store that understands me the most. The price point and selection are perfect. The store has your essentials but provides all the trends at the same time. When I need to be extra cozy, Lizzibeth has all the knitwear you could ask for! 

Is anyone else as excited as I am that we finally have a Warby Parker?! Hopefully we get a Zara next.
