Drugs for Milorganite Saturday at Miller Park.

Free Milorganite Saturday at Miller Park

That's right, the first 1,000 people who drop off unused prescriptions at Medicine Collection Day on Saturday, April 28 at Miller Park will get a free five-pound bag of Milorganite, that Milwaukee made fertilizer trusted by professionals for more than 85 years.

In Milwaukee County alone, Medicine Collection Day efforts have netted more than 14 tons of unused medicine since 2006, keeping dangerous pills off the streets and out of the hands of people who abuse drugs. Studies show that the majority of abused prescription drugs are taken from medicine cabinets at home or from family and friends.

Medicine Collection Day is at Miller Park in the Miller Lot by the Sausage Haus from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You don't even have to get out of your car.

This year's program is being held in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Officials remind you to never flush or pour unused medicines down the drain. Water reclamation facilities are not designed to remove all of them

You can bring: prescription and over-the-counter medication, ointments, sprays, inhalers, creams, vials, and pet medications.

Do not bring: Illegal drugs, biohazardous material, needles/sharps, personal care products (shampoo, soaps, lotions, sunscreens, etc), and household hazardous waste.

Remember to cross off your name and address, but do not cover up or remove the name of the medicine.
