It's funny, a friend and I were talking just this morning about how it'd be great to be able to know where you could find a desired item on sale, so you wouldn't be tricked into paying too much. Not two hours later, I learned about NearbyNow.com, a site that allows visitors to search a specific item to find out where it's on sale.

The catch is that the site works for specific malls only. But, luckily for us, Mayfair is now one of those malls. At NearbyNow.com, you can select Mayfair and find a mall map, store info and other similar information. But the really useful feature is the search.

Enter, say, "iPod" and you'll learn that 20 Mayfair shops have iPods or iPod-related items on sale and you can compare prices before you even leave home. That way, when you get to the mall, you can beeline for the best price.

If you're a guy, especially (sorry for the stereotype), it's a dream come true. No more frustrating and time-consuming roaming around trying to find the best deal. You can get in and out quickly and easily.

Devoted shoppers -- those who love to roam, browse and take their time -- don't have to give up the wanderlust, but now they can find the best price, get their deal and begin a leisurely mall stroll.

If you're already at the mall, you can text MF to 632729 (nearby), and you'll get a mobile menu with results. Now, if it could all be done via the TV and remote control -- purchasing included -- we'd never need to leave home again.
