New art pops up on the East Side

Pop-up art boutique Now U See Us has set up shop at 2456 N. Murray Ave., just in time for the holiday season.

Artists Geralyn Flick and Stuart Shanks will operate the gallery and shop through December. It features work from 20 artists and offers jewelry, soaps, ceramics, prints and other locally made gifts for sale.

Now U See Us is open Tuesday-Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

If you`re hankering for some original music, great local bands, fantastic street food and good old-fashioned family fun, look no further than the East Side. The 12th annual Summer Soulstice festival will take place on June 22, and as always it promises good music and good times.

Half restaurant, half lounge, Crisp Pizza Bar, 1323 E. Brady St., opened three and a half years ago. Some friends and I stopped in to try the chicken pesto, the Meat Lovers and the black peppered scallops pizza from the Crisp Signature Pies menu.

Antonio "Tony" Balsamo opened Antonio`s Pizza, 1000 E. Locust St., around two months ago. I decided to stop in and see if he had the perfect pizza for me.

More Zipcars

As we speak, on the tip of the triangle at North Avenue and Ivanhoe Place, in front of Hooligan`s, Mayor Tom Barrett, Ald. Nik Kovac and Jim Plaisted, of the East Side Business Improvement District, are announcing a new partnership with Zipcar that will put a Zipcar station in the parking lot behind the U.S. Bank on Farwell and North.
