Get the skinny on the fatty foods you need to try at State Fair, or elsewhere in the city, for that matter. Got cold feet? Andy’s got some foot cardigans. And if you’re looking for a more exciting way to drink cranberry juice, there’s a drink at Great Lakes Distillery you need to try.

Sconnie Summer Splash – We had a Groupon for a tour of Great Lakes Distillery, and lucky us, it included a drink at the bar. I tried the Sconnie Summer Splash with Rehorst Citrus & Honey vodka (which I would imagine is pretty tasty all on its own), tonic, cranberry juice (healthy for you, right?) and lime. Delicious. Sweet like juice, but with a kick. And such a cute name. I’m already craving another. – Colleen Jurkiewicz

State Fair – Honestly, you've got to go to the final days of the Wisconsin State Fair. Sometimes, you can get a good deal on "stuff" - and who doesn't like "stuff?" Also, FOOD ON A STICK!  Jim Owczarski

Elvis on a stick – I challenged myself to try a few new stick items at the Wisconsin State Fair this year and my favorite, so far, is the Elvis on a stick. The decadent dessert includes a peanut butter cup deep fried in banana batter. It's a little awkward to eat – I ditched the stick for a spoon after one bite – but was totally worth the chocolate chin I walked around with for a while after devouring it. The Fat Elvis on a stick is also on the menu – it's the same ingredients plus bacon. Both are available at Slim's Lakefront Brewery & Eatery. If you're lucky, maybe you can chow it down while watching Slim's talented Elvis impersonator. – Molly Snyder

Chocolate lover’s danish at C. Adam’s Bakery – Chocolate lover's danish at C. Adam's Bakery in the Milwaukee Public Market is one of the most insanely delicious things I've tasted in a long time. Flaky dough is formed into something like an edible cup that is filled with rich, gooey chocolate and dusted with confectioner's sugar. Don't you dare ask how many calories are in it. Only one way I can imagine improving on it is by adding hazelnuts, but that's pretty much my solution to improving anything edible. A steal at $2.25. – Bobby Tanzilo

Foot Cardigan I’m not crazy about socks. When I don’t have to wear them, I don’t, and when I do, I tend to go for black or brown to keep things simple. But I once read a fashion column that advised that nothing conveys the "screw you, Corporate America" attitude better than wearing a conservative suit paired with loud, obnoxious socks. Now, while I’m not exactly buried in Corporate America, I can appreciate this approach. So I’m intrigued by Foot Cardigan, a company that offers, in its own words, "One random pair of crazy socks in your mailbox every month." It’s kind of a fun idea at $9 a month, and the socks are nice and comfy. The two pairs sent to me for review were yellow with white dogs wearing glasses, eye patches and bows; and gray with red flamingos. Not absurdly crazy, but crazy enough. – Andy Tarnoff
